Here’s how you can change your address in Aadhaar online

Normally, People who change their cities or house  often find problematic situation to get the address mentioned on the Aadhaar card.

But Yes if you face the same thing, then don’t worry because, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has introduced the changing of address online and now you can change your address easily without wait in long queues or pay extra money for the process.

While using the Online Address Update service, make sure that the document you upload is:

1. In your name

Method to change the address on Aadhaar online :-

Step-1:  Go for search to find out the uidai.gov.in website, to change the address.

Step-2: Click on the ‘proceed to update address’ option.

Step-3: Log in using the Aadhaar number, registered mobile number and then with OTP.

Step-4: Then click on ‘update address’ by address proof in case you have documents.

Step-5: In case you don’t have documents click on ‘update address’ by secret code’, a request is submitted for address validation letter. This letter contains a secret code sent for validation after the address verifier consents to the use of his/her address by the requesting resident.

Hence, after the request is submitted successfully.

Step-6:  The resident will get the Aadhaar validation letter via post within 30 days  the date of raising request.

Step-7: Enter the new address, in case you have selected the ‘update address’ by address proof option.

Step-8: Upload the documents.

Step-9:  Review new address and submit the final request.

Notable, Those individuals whose mobile numbers are registered with UIDAI will be able to update or change your address online, Since online transactions are OTP  authenticated, mobile number is mandatory for online update to receive OTP (One Time Password).

According to UIDAI website, Some of the documents required to upload a scanned image of either the original or a self-attested copy of the document for making an update request, that can be submitted as proof of address are:

1. Bank statement/passbook.
2. Post office account statement/passbook.
3. Ration card.
4. Voter ID.
5. Driving licence.
6. Government photo ID card/service photo identity card issued by a state-run company and marriage certificate (containing address) issued by the government.
7. Three months old electricity, water, telephone landline and gas connections bills, property tax receipt, Credit card statement.
