JEE Main exams will now be held in Odia Language

The engineering entrance examination, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) which is conducted for admission to various engineering colleges has been decided to conduct the Entrance Examination in Odia along with other 10 regional languages from coming 2021.

As per reports, the test will be conducted in 11 languages which include Odia, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and English, a notification issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to National Testing Agency (NTA) stated.

Usually, the JEE main examination is held in three language that is English, Hindi and Gujarati.

As per reports, the NTA has been asked to explore possibilities to conduct other competitive examinations in regional languages apart from English and Hindi.

Diversity of India is important and every language must be preserved. So, the fact is such move will help the students to opt for their regional language. However, It may help in boosting their confidence instead of shifting their focus to study in English medium schools.

As per Times now news, The issue of medium of JEE Main came to light after Mamata Banerjee pointed out the inclusion of Gujarati as a medium of instruction for the examination. Following the comment, the NTA had released a clarification of including the language as a special request of the Gujarat government. The latest in the argument is MHRD’s decision to conduct the exam in 11 languages from 2021.

However, the same cannot be included from January 2020 as the process takes time and experts.
