He said, “Glad to dedicate Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, the world’s largest hockey stadium to all the hockey lovers and hockey players of our nation. The new stadium has added a golden chapter in the history of world sports.”
CM Naveen further added, “This is Odisha’s greatest gift to the entire nation. I am sure, the stadium will remain a crown jewel of hockey, transforming the country into a powerful force in the game for decades to come. Hope it will help to nurture hockey talents to bring laurels for the country.”

Birsa Munda Stadium, the world’s biggest hockey stadium located in Rourkela is now a reality in just 15 months. The stadium in the name of the late Saheed Birsa Munda was inaugurated by CM Patnaik on 5th January 2023.
CM Naveen’s vision has helped transform the state’s sports infrastructure. Odisha has established several modern facilities, High-Performance Centres in different sports disciplines to prepare tomorrow’s champions & promote sports.
